George’s parents were both teachers at Brookfield National School, Moira. George was one of four brothers who all served during the war.
The high explosive shell that killed Corporal George Connor also killed Corporal Henry Murphy and Second Lieutenant Robert Wilson McDermott the son of the Rev Dr McDermott, Belmont Manse, Belfast. They were all buried in a near by orchard that was being used as a cemetery.
