Portadown News: 1st June 1918:
Death of Major J. G. Brew
A letter from the War Office says that in a casualty list sent from the front by the German military authorities to Frankfort Red Cross it stated that Major J. G. Brew, Royal Irish Fusiliers, who was reported missing on 26th March, died on 13th April from a shot wound in the lung. He was buried at Hattincourt in a separate grave. Major Brew was a son-in-law of W. M. Clow, J.P., Feddal House, Portadown, and a partner in the firm of Messrs. James Clow & Co., cornmillers. He was a member of the Portadown Batt. Of the U.V.F., and joined the Royal Irish Fusiliers on the outbreak of the war. Very sincere sympathy will be extended to the deceased's wife and family in their sorrow.
