St. Paul's RC Church was built during the years 1963 - 1965. It was built to provide the growing catholic population in the Shankill and new Taghnevan housing estate, a place of worship.

The 3.5 acre site for St Pauls was donated to the church by Miss Emma Donnelly of Church Place, Lurgan.
