Hill Street was the second Presbyterian church to
be built in Lurgan. The church was completed in 1862 and had a
tower added in 1890. Also, in 1963 the church was re-roofed and
refurbished.
Rev. Andrew Gibson B.A., B.D.,M.C was chaplain for
the church. was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry during
the First World War 1914-1918,
Other chaplains, include Rev. James Haire, Rev. R.J. Wilson, Rev.
Willaim McAdam and Rev. John Girvan. All of which became Moderator
of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. Our thanks to P. Flannagan.
