Thomas was badly wounded during the battle of Neuve Chapelle on Easter Sunday, he died from the wounds he received in 13th
General Hospital Boulogne, on Saturday, 10th April 1915. Prior to his enlistment, Thomas had been employed as a linen weaver. At the outbreak of the
war, Thomas was already serving with the military in India, a well-known sportsman and runner he was a
member of the harriers that won the Bombay Cup in 1914. Thomas had returned to Europe with the Indian
