Son of Robert and Mary Copeland, of 24, Hanover St., Portadown, Co. Armagh; husband of Alice Copeland (nee Millops), of 2, Little Victoria St., Belfast.

Portadown News: 9th June 1917: Bombardier Wm. Copeland, late of Hanover Street, Portadown, has reached Southend-on-Sea hospital suffering from wounds. Before enlisting he was employed as a clerk by Messrs Acheson’s Limited.

Portadown News: 9th November 1918: Sergeant William Copeland, son of Mr Robert Copeland, Hanover Street, who was previously announced seriously wounded, died last Friday at No: 6 General Hospital, Rouen, France, from a gunshot wound in the head. Before enlisting he was employed as a clerk for several years in Bannview Weaving Factory.
